Monitors - What are they?

From the operators point of view Monitors are very similar to alarms. They get annunciated and acknowledged like alarms.

They are, however, not based on PV configuration in an IOC and are solely configured in an alarm handler instance.

Different alarm handler instances may have - for example - Monitors set on the same PV with different thresholds.
Each alarm handler instance is limited to one Monitor per PV. A Monitor coexists with alarms on the same PV.

Monitors - Are there any  configured?

In order to find out, if there are any Monitors configured, use the  menu
Monitors >> View
to pop up a list of all configured monitors.

Monitors - How are they configured?

They are interactively configured by an operator  using the menu
Monitors >> Add    or   Edit >> Add monitor  menu items.

Monitors belong to an alarm handler instance and persist through an alarm handler restart.

Note: If  the alarm handler is restarted and a Monitor is in an alarm condition, it will not be annunciated unless the PV value changes.

Monitors - How are they modified?

The properites of an existing monitor, such as thresholds, can be modified at any time.
CTRL-SHIFT-right-click on a monitor in the monitor list (Monitors >> View) or in the list of acknowledged or unacknowledged alarms to  pop up the modification dialog.

Monitors - How are they deleted?

Monitors can be deleted at any time, no matter if they are in alarm state or not.
CTRL-SHIFT-right-click on a monitor in the monitor list (Monitors >> View) or in the list of acknowledged or unacknowledged alarms to pop up the modification dialog..
There should be a delete button.
